Bequests for tithes forgotten were a staple component of orthodox wills in the early sixteenth century. Interestingly, this element appeared considerably less frequently these documents diocese (Coventry and) Lichfield and archdeaconry Leicester 1530s 1540s. Two probable possibly inter-related influences at work: change perception from spiritual redemption to benefice income; some remembered legacy Lollard criticism purpose tithes.
